Preservation of nature and its biodiversity
Our generation’s most important duty is preservation of nature and its biodiversity on all levels.
Estonian nature and its biodiversity has been the biggest treasure of our land. Logging has to be made sustainable and the amount of clear-cutting has to be reduced.
In addition to protecting forest and land we have to protect the Baltic Sea and its ecosystem from pollution and use its resources in a sustainable and calculated manner.
Equality
In Estonia, everyone has to have equal rights and ability to feel safe regardless of their nationality, ethnicity, race, religion, gender identity or sexual orientation. All adults have to be able to marry regardless of their or their partner’s gender.
Foreign language minorities in Estonia should not have to feel inferior and integration has to be based on mutual respect and by creating opportunities.
It is critical to reduce socioeconomic disparity and to guarantee that disabled and socially vulnerable persons have humane and dignified living conditions.
Development of digital culture
The digital environment and culture is expanding more and more and has gradually become an essential part of life. Awareness of the threats and concerns of the digital world is becoming increasingly important.
Estonia’s reputation as an e-state is fading, and the developments that once introduced us to the world as a pioneering country in terms of e-solutions are now dated. It is essential to turn the future of Estonia into a developed e-state, where society can take advantage of digital opportunities, not have it use us.
Drug policy reform
Movement towards reforming outdated Drug Policy is needed. Multiple big countries in the world have understood the social and economic need for legalization of marijuana.
Legalization helps to regulate the market, consumption and quality, it is needed when close to one fifth of young people in Estonia use marijuana every month. People addicted to different substances need help, not excessive punishments. In addition, millions of euros of tax money is missing that could be directed towards improvement of life in Estonia that today goes into supporting criminal networks.
Circular economy and waste management
We strive to raise awareness of circular economy and waste management. More recycling centers and food distribution points must be set up in Estonia. Shops should sell unsold goods at a higher discount or distribute them free of charge to those in need.
Drinking water taps must be installed in public places. We are in favor of limiting the use of packaging and preventing unnecessary packaging. Sorted waste collection points should be within walking distance for everyone.
We stand for public events to become environmentally friendly and to avoid the use of one-off dishes, except for plastic straws, etc., which are necessary for people with disabilities.
Preservation of native culture
A rich and diverse traditional culture exists all over Estonia, which we must preserve and value. Preserving traditional culture supports the preservation of nature and preserving nature supports traditional culture. To this end, the state must contribute to the development of rural areas and the preservation of their rich cultural life.
There are more and more opportunities for storing and using traditional culture in today’s society based on digital solutions, it must be ensured that cultural heritage reaches future generations.
Ensuring the welfare of domestic, farm and wild animals
Not only humans live in Estonia. We share our homeland with living beings who, unlike us, cannot speak for themselves.
Based on relevant research, we must ensure conditions that prevent causing unnecessary suffering to animals. Among other things, nesting peace has to be written into laws.
We support people’s choice to be vegetarian or vegan, and appropriate food options should be available in school. Strict requirements are needed for the keeping of farm animals that ensure their welfare, and to monitor compliance with the requirements.
Transition to a sustainable energy economy
Estonia needs to move more vigorously towards renewable energy and climate neutrality.
Oil shale is an energy source of the last century that is inefficient and leaves a large carbon footprint. Achieving climate neutrality is our responsibility to ourselves and to future generations.
In order to meet both our and Europe’s renewable energy quotas, the destruction of Estonian forests under the label of “sustainable energy” must be stopped.
